Car bodies:
A. Aftermarket bodies permitted.
B. Anything that bolts in may be removed.
C. All hood and cowl air vents must be removed or covered.
D. Hulling for door bars is permitted.
E. Doors must be welded shut.
F. All glass and flammable materials must be removed.
G. Windshield required; back glass 1/8" lexan required.
H. Pre-fabricated magnetic steel aftermarket bodies(body kits) allowed per track approval.
I. Any fabricated sheet metal must be minimum 22 gauge steel.
J. Chassis height minimum 4" inches, roof height minimum 49" inches.
K. Crank height will remain at 12" (twelve inches)
L. Rear windows are optional.
Weight:
A. Cars with screw jacks or adjustable shackles- 3200lbs with driver before and after race. Only gas and water will be added after race; -1450 lbs minimum right side weight before and after race.
B. Cars without screw jacks or adjustable shackles; - 3100 lbs with driver before and after race. Only gas and water may be added after race; 1400lbs minimum right side weight before and after race.
C. All weight must be painted white with car number clearly identified upon it; -added weight must be in block form, weigh no less than five (5) lbs and be securely bolted into place; - no weight may be added outside of the frame rails, ahead of the front spindles, or behind the rear axle.
D. Any car competing with dislodged or lost weight may not add it back to meet weight requirements after the race.
E. Cars with weight jacks-3200 pounds. All other stock chassis- 3100 pounds.
F. All CAMARO'S 3200 pounds.
Engine:
A. Only standard production engines allowed. Chevrolet 350 cubic inch maximum, Ford 351 cubic inch, Chrysler 360 cubic inch.
B. Engines may be interchanged in manufacturer lines only.
C. Engine may be balanced.
D. Steel racing oil pan permitted.
E. Overbore of .060 permitted.
F. No electric fuel pumps permitted.
G. Flat top or dish pistons permitted.
H. Steel crank minimum weight 48 pounds, cast crank minimum weight 50 pounds.
I. Crank journals may be ground for undersize bearings. No other machine work will be permitted.
J. Pistons must not extend above top of block, except Chrysler.
K. Four bolt main blocks permitted.
L. Aluminum water pumps permitted.
M. Aluminum and aftermarket pulleys allowed.
Heads:
A. Any stock production steel heads are allowed.
B. vortec, angle plugs heads- add 50 pounds.
C. NO modifications, no porting or polishing. No grinding of any kind, 3 angle valve job ok as per late model stock rule.
D. 64cc minimum.
E. Cam and lifters with a maximum lift of .450-inch and stock rocker arm ratio, any lifter over 450 add 50 pounds.
F. Roller rockers optional. 1.5 ratio only.
G. No roller or solid lift cams allowed.

All built motors must have 2101 Edelbrock intake.
Intake and Spacers:
A. Only the following Edelbrock aluminum intakes are permitted. Chevrolet #2101, Ford with 4bbl heads #2665, Ford with 2bbl heads #2750, Ford Windsor #2181, Chrysler #2176; - Any stock cast iron single plane intake manifold allowed.
B. No porting, polishing or gasket matching will be permitted.
C. Only a one-piece solid spacer 1 inch thickness may be installed between intake manifold and carburetor.
D. Only 2 paper gaskets, 1 per side, maximum thickness .065-inch will be permitted.
Carburetors:
A. No polishing, grinding or drilling holes will be permitted in the body of the carburetor.
B. Choke may be removed and all holes must be permanently sealed.
C. Choke horn may not be removed and/or altered.
D. Boosters may not be altered in any manner including size, shape or height.
E. Venturi area must not be altered in any manner. Casting ring must not be removed.
F. Base plate must not be altered in shape or size.
G. Stock butterflies must not be thinned or tapered. Idle holes may be drilled in butterflies. Screw ends may be cut even with shafts, but screw heads must remain standard.
H. Throttle shafts must remain standard and must not be cut or thinned in any manner.
I. Any attempt to pull outside air other than through the venturi is not permitted.
Air Cleaner:
A. Round air cleaner element minimum of 12-inches; maximum of 17-inches in diameter permitted.
B. Top and bottom of air cleaner must be same size.
C. Element must be minimum of 1 1/2 inch and a maximum of 4 inches in height.
D. Dry type paper element only.
E. No tubes, Funnels or anything which may control the flow of air are permitted inside the air cleaner or between the carburetor and air cleaner.
F. No shield around air cleaner will be permitted.
Cooling System:
A. Aluminum radiators permitted.
B. All cars must have catch can mounted under hood or trunk.
C. ANTIFREEZE IS NOT PERMITTED $100 FINE
D. Electric fans are permitted.
E. Radiators must be stock appearing and installed in front of the engine.
F. Track official must approved all ductwork.
Exhaust:
A. Headers permitted.
B. OEM stock cast iron manifolds permitted.
C. Aftermarket exhaust manifolds permitted.
D. Exhaust collectors and exit pipes must not exceed 3 1/2 OD.
E. All exhaust must exit under the car and behind the driver.
Clutch Assembly:
A. 10.5" diameter steel pressure plate and fly wheel must be single disk.
Fly wheel must weigh at minimum 16 lbs.
B. Hydraulic clutches are allowed.
C. You can also run 7.25" clutch but you must add 25 lbs. to the car's overall weight.
Rear End:
A. Stock, 10 and 12 bolts rear ends and 9 inch ford rear ends allowed but not recommended. Floater rear ends recommended.
B. Differentials may be locked, Detroit locker or limited slip.
C. GM metric cars may have adjustable coil spring spacers in rear only.
D. Leaf spring cars may have adjustable spring shackles in rear.
E. Rear end hook up must be stock from factory, 3 link permitted on metric cars.
F. Bolt pattern 5"x 4-1/2", 5"x4-3/4", 5"x 5", 5"x 5-1/2".
G. No quick-change rear ends allowed.
Springs and Shocks:
A. Heavy duty springs optional as long as they fit in original position.
B. Any approved steel non-rebuildable, non adjustable shock permitted. Shocks must be approved by track officials.
C. May be shortened to lower car.
D. Shocks mount in any location.
E. Up to 4 inch lowering blocks permitted on rear.
F. Only rubber type spacers are permitted in coil springs.
Brakes:
A. Disc brakes permitted on all wheels.
B. Dual aftermarket master cylinders opt.
Frame:
A. Stock front section cars only. Frames must be approved by NPS official.
B. Solid engine and transmission mounts are permitted.
C. Stock spindles, steering box and steering arms only.
D. "x" may be added between the inside of the frame rails for driver protection.
E. All roll cages must be approved by NPS official.
Wheels and Tires:
A. Steel wheels only.
B. 8" inch wide. 10 " inch wide.
C. Air bleeders will not be permitted.
D. Tread width 66" inch with 1/2" tolerance.
E. Tires will be American Racer retreads from Towel City Retreading Co.
Fuel and Fuel System:
A. No nitrous oxide permitted.
B. Cooling of fuel not permitted.
C. Fuel cells are mandatory.
D. The maximum capacity allowed is 22 gallons.
E. Fuel cells must have working check valve and foam.
F. Fuel cells must have 9" inch minimum ground clearance.
G. Fuel cell must be mounted in a approved steel can.
H. Right side fuel fill not permitted.
I. Electric fuel pump not permitted.
J. A fuel cell protector bar must be installed at the rear of the frame.
Electrical System:
A. Starter must be in working order.
B. Battery may be relocated but must be bolted down securely and covered or place in a battery box.
C. Only one (1) 12 volt battery permitted.
D. Stock HEI ignition permitted.
E. Distributor must not be modified in any way.
F. No ignition boosters permitted.
Roll Cage:
A. 4 point cage with curved door bars required.
B. Roll bars must be welded and made of at least .090 roll bar tubing.
C. Approved loop around radiator and behind grille is permitted.
D. Roll bars may be extended through engine compartment and rear deck.
E. Roll cages must be approved by NPS official.
Spoiler:
A. Homemade spoilers must not be over 5" inches high. Must be no wider than the deck lid. Width 54" wide.
B. Spoiler must be mounted on the rear of deck lid.
C. Factory spoilers permitted on rear.
Wheel Base:
A. 105" inch minimum
Safety:
A. Aluminum race seats required.
B. 5 or 6 point race harness required.
C. Seat belts must have manufacturer date within 3 years of date of event.
D. Inside mirror permitted.
E. Functional drivers side window not required.
F. Car must be equipped with on-board fire extinguisher.
G. Helmets are required. Must meet SA95 or SA2000 requirements. Drivers SFI suit required Mbr.
H. Drive shaft safety loop is required.
Car Numbers:
A. Car numbers must be visible for scoring purposes.
B. Door numbers must be 18" in height.
C. Posted on both doors.
D. Roof number required. 28" inches minimum height. Roof numbers are recommended to face reading toward/grandstand.
Track officials will have discretion to modify these rules as needed including event night changes.
Track officials will determine legality of all components.
NO ANTIFREEZE! If your car is found to have antifreeze, you will be subject to a $100.00 FINE
PROTEST RULES
1. Newport Speedway reserves the right to inspect any truck at any time. It is the drivers responsibility to have the truck available for inspection by the track Competition Director or any other Staff member.
2. Protests must be made in writing within twenty minutes of race completion and turned in to the Race/Competition Director ONLY. All protests are CASH ONLY. Protests must be filed by either the team owner or the driver ONLY.
3. Protest fees must be turned into the Race/Competition Director at the time the protest is filed. Protest fees are as follows:
- Cylinder Head and Intake removal: $300.00 Bottom end of engines will be an additional $500.00
- Shock Claim Rule: $115.00 per shock not including hardware.
You may only claim up to three (3) per event.-See Shock section for claim procedures.
- MSD Ignition Box Claim Rule: $300.00
- Cylinder Heads Claim Rule: $1600.00 excluding rocker arms.
- Transmission Claim Rule: $3000.00 excluding shifter. Carburetor Claim Rule: $800.00 excluding fuel log
and carb. Stud (to be removed by track official ONLY)
4. Protester must participate in the same tech procedure as the truck being protested. Only the top five finishers will be eligible to participate in the protest procedure. The truck being protested must finish in front of the protester. No jumping trucks to protest. Protester may only protest two trucks in front of their own truck. If the protester is protesting two trucks, then both trucks must be protested for the same item(s). No more than two items can be protested at one time. If the truck is found to have an illegal part, it must be shown that the part has been removed before the start of the next race event.
5. Only the protested driver and two assistants are allowed in the tear down area to assist with the inspection process.
6. Any vehicle found to be illegal will forfeit all prize money and all points earned for that event. Any vehicle that fails to tear down for inspection, either under regular post race tech or protest conditions, will forfeit all prize money and all points earned for that event.
7. Newport Speedway reserves the right, in all events, to tear down the next truck in position until a legal vehicle is found. This will be at the discretion of the Race/Competition Director.
8. All CLAIM RULES have the same requirements as Protest procedures. CASH ONLY at time of filing written protest and turned in to the Director of Competition within twenty minutes of race completion.
9. To make an anonymous claim, you may do so at any time prior to the start of the track's pre-race activities. You must have CASH ONLY and desired claim part in writing turned in to the track Administrator ONLY. This information will stay only with the Administrator and Race/Competition Director. The part will be claimed after race, but will not be available for pick up until the following week. You will be notified on Monday morning when pick up is possible.
